An extraordinary photo has emerged, appearing to show cars driving the wrong way up a slip road during today's M23 closure.
The busy motorway was shut this morning (Thursday) to allow UK Power Networks engineers to repair a damaged overhead power line after it came crashing down onto the southbound carriageway.
The road was closed northbound between J10 (Crawley) and J8 (M25), and southbound between J8 and J9 (Gatwick) for "safety reasons".
