TWENTY-SEVEN years ago today (Thursday, October 16) the greatest storm to have hit Surrey for nearly 300 years left a trail of devastation that will forever be remembered.
The hurricane of Thursday night, October 15, 1987, and the small hours of the following morning, saw winds reach speeds of 100mph and in the space of a few hours, more than 15 million trees were toppled in southern England.
