FOUR firefighters helping with the huge flood relief effort along the River Thames were taken to hospital suffering with suspected carbon monoxide poisoning last night.
The firefighters, believed to be from Leatherhead Fire Station, were in flood-hit Chertsey yesterday where they were helping at a fire service control unit.
Fire crews had been called in along with military, search and rescue and voluntary personnel, to help coordinate the rescue effort as hundreds of homes are under water.
