WHYTELEAFE and Kenley families were plunged into darkness last night (Friday) as floodwater from the Caterham bourne caused power cuts to hit 1,000 homes.
As the London Fire Brigade battled to keep water out of the Kenley Pumping Station, the electricity was cut. Families brought out candles or sat in the dark while fearing that the next catastrohe would be filthy water surging into their homes.
The power was cut at around 7.30pm last evening.
